Constitution<\/h2>\n

ARTICLE I- NAME AND COLORS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The name of this organization shall be the (Early Care Educators Club) of College.<\/p>\n

SECTION 2\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 The official colors shall be\u00a0Black<\/u>\u00a0and\u00a0Gold.<\/u><\/p>\n

SECTION 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The identity mascot shall be the\u00a0Cougar.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ARTICLE II-MEMBERSHIP<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>All duty registered students, enrolled in a\u00a0minimum\u00a0<\/u>of 5 units at Taft College, in good standing, and holders of a current activity card shall be among the active members of the Associated Student Body of Taft College All students interested are invited to attend.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Only active members of this association shall vote in elections, hold office, receive awards and other benefits, or represent this association in any way.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Honorary membership in this organization may be conferred upon any person by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 4 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>College Faculty and the Board of Trustees shall be honorary members of this organization.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ARTICLE III- QUALIFICATIONS FOR, TERMS OF OFFICERS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>A candidate for elective office shall:<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be an active member of the Associated Student Body of Taft College.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Have maintained at least\u00a02.00\u00a0<\/u>average for all courses taken at Taft College.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be regularly enrolled in Taft College carrying a minimum of\u00a05 units.<\/u><\/p>\n

CLAUSE 4 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Any officers of the Executive Board who has three unexcused absences during a semester shall be subject to dismissal from office he\/she holds by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

SECTION 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>All elective officers shall hold office for one college calendar year.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>All officers shall function in accordance with the constitution and special ruling of the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 4 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>All elective officers shall be active in \u201cLeadership Training\u201d.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

ARTICLE IV- EXECTIVE OFFICERS AND APPOINMENTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The \u201cpresident\u201d of this association shall be appointed<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Act as chairperson of the Executive Board and this association.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Act as of official representative of the Student Body of Taft College.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fill all and any vacancies, elective and appointive, created by resignation or disqualification, subject to majority approval of the Executive Board. If a vacancy is not filled within ten (10) school days, a special election will be called to fill the vacancy.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Appoint and dissolve committees not provided for this constitution and by-laws.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vote only to break a tie.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be an ex-official member of all committees.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible to establish and carry out the selection and approval process for all Executive Board Members.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 8 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exercise such other powers as have been granted to him\/her by this constitution or shall be granted to him\/her by the Executive Board in accordance with this constitution.<\/p>\n

SECTION 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The \u201cvice president\u201d of this association shall be elected by a majority of the Associated Student Body and shall:<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assume the duties of the chairperson during his\/her absence and succeed to the office upon the resignation or disqualification of the chairperson.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shall be responsible for the formation of an election committee and shall serve as chairperson of this committee.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shall be responsible for the formation of a budget committee which shall prepare a yearly ECE budget no later than one month after the beginning of the fall semester<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 4 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exercise such other power as have been granted him\/her by this constitution or shall be granted him\/her by the Executive Board in accordance with this constitution.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible for the formation of a publicity committee.<\/p>\n

SECTION 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The secretary of this association shall:<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep accurate, written minutes of proceedings transmitted during Executive Board meetings. Maintain a complete and current file of all such minutes in the executive board office and submit copies to the ASB Interclub Commissioner and ASB advisor.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare and post a typewritten copy of the minutes of the meeting of the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conduct all official correspondence in the name of the ECE Club, when so directed by the Executive Board chairperson, and shall keep accurate files of all said correspondence and such other records as are deemed necessary.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Conduct such other secretarial duties as specified by the Executive Board chairperson.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible for preparing and distributing the Executive Board agenda.<\/p>\n

SECTION 4 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The treasure of this association shall.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible for making and signing all checks requests and making all deposits related to the ECE fund and make a weekly financial report to the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep accurate financial records of all expenditures and deposits and maintain an accurate running balance of the ECE Fund.<\/p>\n

SECTION 5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The \u201cactivities coordinator\u201d of this association will be elected by the ECE Executive Board<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Act as chairperson of this association in the absence of the chairperson, vice- chairperson, secretary and treasurer.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible for the organization of all activities committees.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible to formulate an activities calendar.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be responsible for the promotion of athletic and social events.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Division appointees must be active in leadership training.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Any appointee of the Executive Board who has three unexcused absences during a semester shall be subject to dismissal from the position he\/she holds by a two-thirds majority vote of the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meetings must be called by an officer of the Executive Board with approval of the advisor.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A quorum (majority) will consist of one vote more than 50% of all membership.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Robert\u2019s Rule of Order will be used.<\/p>\n

SECTION 4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The Executive Board of this association shall:<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Have the power to legislate and execute all articles and section of this constitution<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 2 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Represent the association in the internal and external affairs.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Require all officers and members of this association to comply with the provision of this constitution.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hear reports of all officers and committee chairperson of this association, and any other reports by member or outside organizations.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 5 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Approve interim appointments made by the Executive Board chairperson to fill vacancies in the Executive Board, created by disqualification, resignation, or other causes for the remainder of the semester.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Exercise supervision and control over all expenditures from the executive Board and Associated Students funds.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 7 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Approve annually a yearly Associated Student Body general fund budget not later than one month after beginning of the spring semester.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 8\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Set the price of Associated Student Body cards for the following year in the spring semester of the current year with administrative approval.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 9 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shall have the right of free discussion in its meeting and show responsibility on behalf of the association.<\/p>\n

SECTION 5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Each member of the Executive Board shall have on vote.<\/p>\n

CLAUSE 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An Executive Board member may not delegate his\/her voting power without a two thirds vote approval by the Executive Board.<\/p>\n

SECTION 6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The advisor shall be present at Executive Board meetings and shall act in that capacity.<\/p>\n

ARTICLE VI- APPOINTMENTS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SECTION 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The Executive board shall appoint their successors during the spring semester 3 (three) weeks prior to graduation.<\/p>\n
