{"id":22032,"date":"2016-12-18T22:34:48","date_gmt":"2016-12-18T22:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pre-production.taftcollege.edu\/dental-hygiene\/?page_id=22032"},"modified":"2020-08-04T18:00:14","modified_gmt":"2020-08-04T18:00:14","slug":"exposure-control-plan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/archive.taftcollege.edu\/dental-hygiene\/exposure-control-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Exposure Control"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row css_animation=&#8221;&#8221; row_type=&#8221;row&#8221; use_row_as_full_screen_section=&#8221;no&#8221; type=&#8221;full_width&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h1>Exposure Control<\/h1>\n<p>NOTICE on BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN<\/p>\n<p>Dental Health Care Workers are exposed to bloodborne pathogens when treating patients.\u00a0 Patients may also be exposed to pathogens during dental hygiene procedures.\u00a0 The TCDH program follows OSHA\/CDC requirements for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment and work spaces including wearing personal protective equipment during treatment procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Engineering controls for bloodborne pathogens are written and can be found in the Exposure Control-SOP Manual.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ENGINEERING AND WORK PRACTICE CONTROLS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Engineering and work practice controls used to prevent or minimize exposure to bloodborne pathogens:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat (steam under pressure) sterilizers<\/li>\n<li>Chemical disinfectants<\/li>\n<li>Instrument washers<\/li>\n<li>Sharps disposal containers<\/li>\n<li>Ultrasonic cleaners<\/li>\n<li>High-volume evacuation systems<\/li>\n<li>Needle recapping devices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NOTICE:\u00a0 COVID-19 Engineering Controls<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Taft College Dental Hygiene Program has implemented additional infection control processes based on Guidelines, from CDC, OSHA, ADA, and the CA.
