{"id":22096,"date":"2017-05-09T15:58:29","date_gmt":"2017-05-09T15:58:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pre-production.taftcollege.edu\/dental-hygiene\/?page_id=22096"},"modified":"2020-08-04T17:40:33","modified_gmt":"2020-08-04T17:40:33","slug":"selection-process","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/archive.taftcollege.edu\/dental-hygiene\/selection-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Selection Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The selection criteria will be applied to those applicants who have met minimum program requirements.<\/p>\n<p>There is a cumulative total of 200 points possible in the following categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GPA in prerequisite coursework (50 points)<\/li>\n<li>Cumulative GPA in all college coursework (45 points)<\/li>\n<li>Number of units completed at Taft College (40 points)<\/li>\n<li>Progress towards the completion of general education requirements for the Associate Degree (20 points)<\/li>\n<li>Attainment of a degree (20 points)<\/li>\n<li>Related work experience (25 points)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is an example of how points are allocated to coursework completed at Taft College-<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 491px\" width=\"217\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"69\">Units<\/td>\n<td width=\"64\">Points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>46+<\/td>\n<td>5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>45 to 40.5<\/td>\n<td>4.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>40 to 35.5<\/td>\n<td>4<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>35 to 31<\/td>\n<td>3.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>30 to 25.5<\/td>\n<td>3<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>25 to 20.5<\/td>\n<td>2.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>20 to 15.5<\/td>\n<td>2<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>15 to 10.5<\/td>\n<td>1.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>10 to 5.5<\/td>\n<td>1<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>1 to 5<\/td>\n<td>0.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the application deadline closes, all submissions are verified.\u00a0 Fifty percent of the incoming candidates are selected based on ranking point criteria and 50% are selected randomly from all remaining qualified candidates.\u00a0 Selection is finalized by March 31 and selected candidates are notified in April.<\/p>\n<p>A MANDATORY orientation is held in May.<\/p>\n<p>Contact the Counseling Center at (661) 763-7748 for additional information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SELECTION CRITERIA    The selection criteria will be applied to those applicants who have met minimum program requirements.
