Follow the directions below to begin your distance learning classes. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Distance Learning Help Desk (661-763-7917).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Online Students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Online Instructions<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will need to begin classes <strong>promptly<\/strong>. <span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>NO ONE WILL CONTACT YOU!<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Students who do not check in during the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>first few days<\/strong> <\/span>of class are often <span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>dropped<\/strong><\/span>. This will not relieve you of your financial responsibility.<\/li>\n<li>If you do not wish to stay in the class AND you want a refund, you will need to drop the class within the allowed timeline.<\/li>\n<li>Any questions, contact your instructor or the Distance Learning Help Desk.<\/li>\n<li>You will not be able to log in to your class until classes begin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>STEP 1:<\/strong> Click on\u00a0&#8220;<strong>Class Schedule<\/strong>&#8221; located on the Right hand side of the <strong>Distance Education<\/strong> Page<br \/>\n<strong>STEP 2:<\/strong> Under the term you are enrolled in, click on the link titled Distance Learning Course Schedule &amp; Orientation Pages<br \/>\n<strong>STEP 4:<\/strong> Scroll to the course you are taking and click on the blue plus sign to view the course orientation page &amp; information. If your instructor has\u00a0not updated this page, please call the Distance Ed. Help Desk for\u00a0your questions.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22129\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.taftcollege.edu\/distance-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/45\/2016\/12\/outlook-mailbox-size-300x251-300x251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"98\" height=\"82\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Offline Students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Offline Instructions:<\/p>\n<p>Distance Learning Off-line is a mode of delivery that does not require Internet access.\u00a0 You do not have to come to campus.\u00a0 Instead, you will follow the directions given in the course syllabus, complete and submit your assignment and take your exams by the deadlines given in the class calendar, and contact the instructor if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.\u00a0 You can usually submit your assignments through email, postal mail, or in person.\u00a0 Tests can be taken in the College LRC. If you cannot come to Campus, you will need to set up an approved proctor. The proctor identification procedures are available online or by calling the Distance Learning Help Desk at (661) 763-7917.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\" align=\"LEFT\">Here is a brief description of off-line course processes:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Assignments: <\/strong>For each week of the term, you may be asked to complete readings assignments, writing assignments, projects, and other activities. You can work on your own time, but you <span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>must submit the assignments when they are due<\/strong><\/span>. To see what is due and when, please refer to the course calendar\/schedule on the syllabus.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Submitting homework: <\/strong>You may be asked to submit your homework via email, postal mail, or in person. Be sure to refer <span style=\"color: #993300\"><strong>to the course syllabus<\/strong><\/span> for instructions on how to submit your work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Questions:<\/strong> In an off-line course, you can&#8217;t raise your hand to ask a question. However, you can ask your questions by sending a message to your instructor through email, postal mail, or fax. You may also contact the instructor by telephone. Your instructor will respond to your question in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Testing: <\/strong>At different times during the term, your instructor may test your understanding of the material. The instructor reserves the right to schedule a proctored exam.\u00a0 The course orientation page will list whether the course requires proctored exams. Directions on how to get your proctor approved are available in the campus resource center.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grading: <\/strong>You will be assessed and graded on a combination of factors.
