Americana music is hard to describe but combines other American genres such as blues, county, rock and roll, and rhythm and blues into its own unique sound.<\/p>\n<p>Fans had to brave an exceedingly hot day for October in Bakersfield with the festival running from 12:30 to 6 pm. The temperature topped out in the high 90s, but that didn\u2019t deter the crowd.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2032\" style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/oldweb.taftcollege.edu\/tcwp\/cougaronline\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_00541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2032\" class=\"size-large wp-image-2032\" src=\"http:\/\/oldweb.taftcollege.edu\/tcwp\/cougaronline\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_00541-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"fan photo\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2032\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fans try to stay cool<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The music started at 1 pm with Monty Byrom and The Road Pilots. Byrom\u00a0blends a mix of musical influences including, of course being from Bakersfield, Buck Owens and Merle Haggard along with rock and blues to create his own \u201cBakersfield\u201d sound. As local resident Tony Bolivar commented, \u201cI\u2019m a great fan of Monty Byrom. I love his music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other acts included The Roustabouts, a local bluegrass band, The Sheepdogs, a rock band from Saskatchewan, Sam Outlaw, a country singer based in Los Angles, and Taft\u2019s own Truxton Mile. Truxton Mile entertained the crowd with everything from a Merle Haggard classic, \u201cI Think I\u2019ll Just Stay Here and Drink\u201d to their latest single \u201cCalifornia in My Mind.\u201d Taylor Unruh, who plays guitar for the band, stated, \u201cThe band will be playing in Taft next week for Oildorado with other acts.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2024\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/oldweb.taftcollege.edu\/tcwp\/cougaronline\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2024\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2024\" src=\"http:\/\/oldweb.taftcollege.edu\/tcwp\/cougaronline\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0015-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"dogs photo\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2024\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Sheepdogs<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The headliners of the Fest were James McMurtry and Ray Wiley Hubbard.
