Goodbye Taft, Hello China<\/p>\n

Taft College has said goodbye to a faculty member, Robin Ledford. She has been part of the Taft College faculty for 7 years and is now saying goodbye to Taft College and hello to China. Ledford loves traveling and teaching English so what better than doing both at once. She has been offered a job in China as an English teacher and is really excited about this new opportunity.<\/p>\n
This will be her first time having her own English classroom as a teacher. She is not required to speak Chinese since English will be the only language allowed to be spoken in her classroom.<\/p>\n
Ledford admits to be a bit nervous about the food and etiquette there is in China but is still excited for this new journey in her life.<\/p>\n
Ledford started off as a student worker at Taft College and moved her way up to being VP Assistant of Instruct to now teaching abroad. Besides China, Ledford said she would like to teach in another country perhaps somewhere in South America.<\/p>\n
Her last day at Taft College was March 14th,<\/sup> and faculty and staff members organized a small farewell party for her. Ledford will definitely be missed by Taft College.<\/p>\n To students who are interested in teaching abroad she said, \u201cIt\u2019s way easier than you would think, if you want to do it then just do it.\u201d<\/p>\n As a farewell to Robin, her colleague Jeanene Robertson wrote:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The time to face reality has come<\/strong><\/p>\n Her time here is really done<\/strong><\/p>\n She brought so much to the table<\/strong><\/p>\n So willing, so inspiring, so able<\/strong><\/p>\n So innovative<\/strong><\/p>\n So creative<\/strong><\/p>\n Pushed the envelope<\/strong><\/p>\n Helped things develop<\/strong><\/p>\n Created relationships that are everlasting<\/strong><\/p>\n Willing to give her all without ever asking<\/strong><\/p>\n Saw the bigger picture<\/strong><\/p>\n Did everything to make sure<\/strong><\/p>\n Taft College would be successful for the future<\/strong><\/p>\n She\u2019s been here since she was twenty<\/strong><\/p>\n Growing, maturing, stressing\u2026oh plenty<\/strong><\/p>\n Being a part of Instruction is not easy<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s a giant task that sometimes makes you queasy<\/strong><\/p>\n No problem she said<\/strong><\/p>\n She still came to work knowing that<\/strong><\/p>\n She was an important piece\u2026that\u2019s a fact<\/strong><\/p>\n It won\u2019t be the same<\/strong><\/p>\n But that\u2019s ok<\/strong><\/p>\n She will leave knowing we are still in the game<\/strong><\/p>\n Thank you is the least we can say<\/strong><\/p>\n And good luck as you go on your new way<\/strong><\/p>\n Enjoy this new step<\/strong><\/p>\n Make memories to be kept<\/strong><\/p>\n We will miss you<\/strong><\/p>\n And if you know anything to be true<\/strong><\/p>\n Instruction is throwing a party for you<\/strong><\/p>\n Not just one\u2026but two<\/strong><\/p>\n So come one come all<\/strong><\/p>\n Say your good byes<\/strong><\/p>\n But please do not cry<\/strong><\/p>\n It is just time for our Robin to fly\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Goodbye Taft, Hello China By Etelvina Castillo and Nick Kawano Taft College has said goodbye to a faculty member, Robin Ledford.
