The event started around ten p.m when the Earth&#8217;s penumbra started touching the moon. By 11:00 the moon had been covered in shadow and starting to turn red. The moon stayed completely red for about an hour, and by 2:00 a.m. the red shadow faded and the moon was turning back into its white color.
