This year’s issue <\/span>of<\/span> A <\/em><\/span>Sharp<\/span><\/em> <\/span><\/em>Piece<\/span><\/em> <\/span><\/em>of<\/span><\/em> <\/span><\/em>Awesome<\/span><\/em>,<\/span><\/em> our student-edited, annual literary publication, is now available for sale at the Cougar Corner Bookstore and on Amazon.com. We have applied for sales through Barnes& Noble, and Russo’s new online store has agreed to carry the issue.\u00a0Camille Gavin <\/span>of<\/span> The Bakersfield Californian<\/em> plans to discuss the issue and upcoming release party in “Eye Street” in the Thursday, May 15th edition <\/span>of<\/span> The Bakersfield Californian. <\/em> We’re hoping for a great turnout this year!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The event will feature readings by some <\/span>of<\/span> the authors in this year’s issue, including\u00a0Bill Devine, Taft College students and alumni, and other published poets & writers. Roger Miller will read his sister Katherine Miller’s “Asphalto,” a prose <\/span>piece<\/span> that gives a physical and historical overview <\/span>of<\/span> Taft and the surrounding area. The reading is on Saturday, May 17th, at 3pm at Dagny’s Coffee in Bakersfield (where Eye St. and 20th St. meet).\u00a0The event is free.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you haven’t yet purchased an issue, I encourage you to do so. Proceeds go toward the publication <\/span>of<\/span> our 2015 issue. The student editors (David Bailey, Kelsie Burrows, Courtney Cloud,\u00a0\u200band Jacob Gonzales) have worked tirelessly this year and done an outstanding job <\/span>of<\/span> promoting the magazine\u00a0increasing its\u00a0distribution.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
