SI at Taft College uses the UMKC SI model, which is focused on the facilitated study session. However, SI at Taft College has been modified to meet the needs of TC’s student population. Each semester Supplemental Instructional Assistants (SIs) are assigned to classes based on instructor requests. SIs provide academic support during class and outside of class through facilitated study sessions. SIs plan and lead weekly sessions where students practice and discuss course content and develop study skills with their peers. Supplemental Instruction continually reinforces course content and teaches cooperative learning techniques that promote student success.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left”][vc_column width=”1/2″]

Elizabeth McKnight has been an SI since spring 2008.
