Taft College Baseball Player Richard Ortiz is going NCAA D1
“Richard Ortiz has made quite an impact during his time with Taft College Baseball. He led the team in home-runs this year with 9.
He will be heading to Grambling University in the fall, which will be his next step as he aims towards making it to the MLB.
Ortiz comes from Puerto Rico and enjoys traveling to play baseball. He went to the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy High School, which has produced noteworthy players such as Carlos Correa of the Houston Astros.
Ortiz would travel two hours every day just to attend the school. His senior year he made a recruitment video, earning him a phone call from Taft head coach Vince Maiocco.”
