Scholarship applications will be available the 3rd week of January and must be turned in the 3rd week of March. Eligible candidates must have a current ASO sticker (can be purchased for $30 at the cashier’s desk in the administration building) and turn in a completed scholarship application to the Financial Aid office by or before the due date.

Students who are actively involved in any campus club and who meet all the requirements specified under each scholarship are eligible to receive any of the following ASO scholarships:

ASO Academic Excellence Scholarship: The recipient must be transferring to a four-year institution. The recipient must have a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average for all classes taken at Taft College as of the fall semester before graduation. Academic excellence of the student shall be the primary selection criteria.

ASO Athletic Achievement & Excellence Scholarship: The recipient must have been an active member of a Taft College athletic team for two consecutive years. The recipient must be transferring to a four-year institution to continue athletically and academically. The recipient must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average for all classes taken at Taft College as of the fall semester before graduation and be a positive, competitive member on their team. Letter from coaches are recommended for this scholarship.

ASO Financial Need Scholarship: The recipient must be transferring to a four-year institution. The recipient must have a 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average for all classes taken at Taft College as of the fall semester before graduation. Financial need of the student shall be the primary selection criteria.

ASO Scholarship (faculty recommendation): The recipient must be transferring to a four-year institution. The recipient must have a 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average for all classes taken at Taft College as of the fall semester before graduation. Financial need of the student shall not be used as selection criteria. Applicants must include recommendation from a Taft College Faculty member to be considered for this scholarship.

ASO Active Club Member Scholarships (2): The recipient must be actively involved in a campus clubs and shall be nominated by a club advisor. The recipient must have a minimum 2.0 G.P.A. and be in good standing with the college and community. The following documentation shall be used as justification for the club member’s active involvement:

1. Event reports submitted by the club advisor

2. Agenda Meeting notes showing roll call

3. Monthly club attendance rosters
