Veterans honored at cookout

By Bruce Gray

On October 16th the Taft College foundation held a rib-eye cookout to honor local veterans at it’s fifth annual Cougar Alumni Friends & Family event. The event happens every year and is the foundation’s way of giving back to local heros that fought for our country.

Over 150 free tickets were presented to former military members from Taft. The night was full of fun and excitement from the music of local rockabilly band ” The Fruit Tramps” to the climax of the ceremony where John and Betty Miller were honored with the Taft College Foundation’s Community spirit award for their years of hard work to make the city of Taft a better place.

With the successful combination of great food, music and honoring local hero’s, the Rib-eye cookout will be a staple at Taft College for years to come.
